The Inner City Zone Championships is on Saturday 6 December and Sunday 7 December 2025 at ES Marks Athletics Field, Moore Park - enter via Boronia Street, Kensington.
UNIFORM - Athletes must wear the correct Club uniform (singlet or crop-top, not rep t-shirt).

GETTING THERE
Allow plenty of travel time. It can take 25-40 minutes depending on the time of day and traffic conditions. We suggest arriving at least one hour before your child’s first scheduled event.
ATHLETE INFORMATION
If there is any inconsistency between the Final Program and the Entry Lists information, the Final Program takes precedence.
VOLUNTEERING - Please choose a duty to sign up for. You can choose an event that your child is participating in. Duties run for 1 to 1.5 hours. Remember to wear enclosed shoes, bring a hat and/or a wet weather jacket and a bottle of water.

Races marshalling – where and when do we go? Track callroom behind 100m start. Attend 15mins prior to event start time.
Field event marshalling – where and when do we go? Field athletes attend listed event site 10mins prior to event start time.
What shirt do athletes compete in? Athletes MUST wear their Balmain competition uniform (singlet or crop top) with plain black bottoms, mcdonald's registration no. and coles age patches attached (see above). Please note the Zone representative shirt IS NOT for competition.
How do we handle clashes of events? If your athlete has two events at the same time, first check in with the field event official to notify them of the clash. You are unlikely to be the only affected athlete. The field event official may get them to participate out of order to get some of the event done before going to the track callroom. Your athlete must return immediately after their track event is finished.

Where will Balmain be setup? Balmain will have a designated club area in the grand stand. Look for the orange/black signage and our flags when you arrive.
How do athletes qualify from heats to finals? Track progression is: 1st place in each heat, plus next fastest times to create 8-person finals.
How do we know if our athlete made Regionals? First 6 places and next 4 best qualifiers from across all zone results in Region 8. Results and qualifiers are usually posted on LANSW/ANSW website
Do parents need to help? Yes, every club must fill helper spots across the weekend. Balmain is allocated TJ, Javelin and long hurdle set up. These are simple roles (measuring, recording, raking, retrieving). Parent support keeps the carnival moving smoothly.
What should athletes bring? Water, snacks, lunch, hat, sunscreen, jacket/hoodie, change of clothes and something soft to sit on.
How do we know when our child’s event is on? Please refer to the timetable.
What time should we arrive? Please arrive 60 minutes before your first event so athletes can warm up and get to marshalling on time.

Do athletes need to bring starting blocks? No — blocks are supplied and only zone-issued blocks can be used.
Will there be a coach to help my athlete warm up? Our coaches will be in available to assist with basic warm-ups, but athletes should also take responsibility for warming up early and heading to marshalling at the appropriate time.
How do we share photos and videos on socials? If you take photos or videos during the carnival, please send them to us via our Facebook or Instagram message so we can share them on our club social pages. We love celebrating all our athletes!
Can parents lodge a protest? No — only the designated team manager may lodge a protest. A $50 fee applies and is forfeited if the protest is unsuccessful.
Can athletes leave the carnival and return? Yes—but ensure you are back well before your next event. Missing marshalling means missing the event.
What happens if an athlete is sick or can’t attend? Please notify your age manager. Unfortunately they will miss the event as there is no exemptions for illness/injury as per NSWA guidelines.
Are parents allowed on the field? Only rostered parent helpers and officials can be inside the competition area. All other families must stay behind the fences/barriers.
Is there food or coffee available? Yes. The host clubs are running a BBQ. Our coffee man will be attending, but bring your own food if preferred.
What happens in bad weather? Competition continues on the all-weather track, unless conditions become unsafe (lightning or extreme heat/humidity).
Is there parking available? There is no onsite parking. You can park in nearby streets or use the $10 paid parking at Randwick Racecourse (see map in program). Please allow yourself time to walk to venue.
What happens if my athlete is late to marshalling? They may miss the opportunity to participate in their track event, or have fewer attempts at their field event if they are late.
Who do we contact on the day if we need help? Please try your age manager first. There will also be Balmain committee available in the grandstand to assist.
Do we need to stay in the grandstand? We recommend staying close to the Balmain area so athletes can warm up together, stay informed, and be ready for marshalling.
Can siblings come? Yes, the whole family can come and support their athletes but unless you are volunteering at an event you must stay outside the competition area at all times.
What time does the carnival finish each day? Carnival finish times vary. Events run until completed—often late afternoon. Any updates would be made by the ground announcer during the day.
Is there an entry fee? No.
